About Us

The beginning of Albanian Muslims was made in 1994 at the Islamic König Fesal Center of Arabs, using the premises of this center for religious rites until 2001.

Since 2001 Albanians have separated and moved to one of their locations and formed the Besimtari Islamic Community at Haltingerstrasse 96, 4057 Basel.

For short time the number of members began to increase, so in 2003 part of this congregation split and formed the Paqja (Peace) Cultural Association.

The Besimtari Mosque since 2003 has numbered over 300 members and has the regular Imam Bunjamin ef.Aziz.

From 2001 to 2019 staying in the same building, within these years has done lot of works from all spheres within their reach, staying hopefully for a larger building.

With the help of Allah, from the data 01.09.2019 the Believers of the mosque Besimtari are transferred to a wider and cozy space and building, some 400m2 which possess: two mosque sanctuary, one for men and one for women, a waiting room, a classroom, an office, a cafeteria, two bathrooms and a large terrace.

Two regular weekly lectures ( in jumah and sunday)

Islamic teaching twice a week (Saturday and Sunday) where about 70 to 80 students gravitate. during these years, eleven generations have graduated.

Whereas for the elderly from the subject of the Koran, about five generations have completed the Hatma of the Koran, during the winter time lectures from the subject of the Koran take place.

Tribunes, and various manifestations during the dates and celebrations in Islam, such as: Birth of Muhammad, Miraj, Hijrah, and other activities.
